School Events - 2009-10

Open House

The Open House marked the first event of the session in May. It helped the parents gain a first hand insight into the happenings of a classroom and be a part of them too.

Labor’s Day

The school believes in respecting and celebrating the dignity of labor. The students showed their gratitude by giving cards and gifts to the co-workers as a token of recognition of their efforts.

Theatre Workshop

Theatre Workshop was about the process of self-exploration of the creative side of the personalities through body movements, voice work, mime, script building, enactments, story making, stage work and small group role plays.

Medical Checkup

’Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being’.
The students of OPG are subjected to regular health check-ups by the in-house doctor and all progress and developments are recorded on a regular basis. Proper emphasis is laid on the daily meals in school so that the students get a healthy and balanced diet under the supervision of a dietician.

UST Presentation

All the grades had put forth their work in diverse UST based presentations named ‘Enigma of Learning’. The presentation techniques used were equally varied, like role-play, interview and discussion, individual and group presentation. The students demonstrated the inherent inquisitiveness which generally goes unnoticed most of the time.

 

Independence Day

‘A day to salute the martyr souls’- was celebrated with vigor and enthusiasm.
Along with the flag hoisting, the children presented speeches and sang patriotic songs set amidst the tricolor decorations giving a boost to the national feeling of the young citizens and signifying unity.

Annual Day

‘We do not remember days; we remember moments’.

The proud parents of OPG World School had assembled to celebrate the grandeur of the school’s Annual Day. They witnessed scintillating and synergetic performances put up by all the children of the OPG family. The company of eminent personalities and achievers in the field of education graced the occasion. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Narendra Kumar, ex-Chairman of DPS Society, who has carved a niche in the diverse fields of his accomplishments.

 

The celebrations for the splendid and spectacular event commenced with an ode to the Goddess of learning with a vow to end the darkness of ignorance and illuminate the light of god in us.

 

The theme for the event was the opulent odyssey of ‘The Shrek’. All the students of all grades participated in enlivening the saga through the musical melodrama. The Annual Report presented by the Headmistress reflected new beginnings, successful endeavours and promising collaborations for an even brighter future ahead. The tastefully designed event came to an end with the grand finale that left an indelible mark and happy trails ahead.

Baby’s Day Out

The gala event was attractively outlined to provide a platform for the tiny tots in order to give them an opportunity to exhibit their innate and latent qualities. It was a fun filled day with a plethora of activities and games. A variety of stalls like ‘Draw ‘n Create’, ‘Hit a Ball’, ‘Create a Portfolio’ enthralled the gathering. A ‘Talent Show’ was also organized and the kids won gifts and certificates in various categories like ‘Healthy Baby’, ‘Friendly Baby’, ‘Curly Hair Baby’, ‘Tallest Baby’ and ‘Best Dressed Baby’.

 

Lip smacking and delicious food along with foot tapping music indulged the parents and the kids to enjoy the unforgettable event to the fullest. A lot of happening zones like ‘Horse Riding platform’, ‘Toy Train’, ‘Ring-a-thing’ and ‘Bouncy ‘were created to enhance variety to the extent of entertainment and fun.

 

Overwhelming participation of parents and children made the event a grand success.

Janmashtami

The students of OPG celebrated the birth of Lord Krishna by adorning themselves as Radha and Krishna and dancing to the magical hymns. The holy songs spelt the magic around blissfully.

Splash Pool

‘Splish, Splash – with a bash’
The surprise Splash Pool inauguration proved to be a fantastic summer chiller for the students.
They wore costumes and essential safety accessories, had immense fun and enjoyed the brunch
soon after.

Teachers’ Day

‘Better than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher.’
The students of OPG paid homage to their ‘Epitome of Learning’- philosopher, friend, guide, mentor, facilitator by throwing a party filled with fun and frolic, games, food etal.

Grandparents’ Day

‘Unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life-the essential gifts in abundance.’
Grandparents’ Day was a celebration of our love and value for the grandparents together with honoring and glorifying their presence and blessings in our lives.

Gandhi Jayanti

To reinforce the message of non-violence, unity and patriotism the students presented patriotic songs, a fancy dress parade of national leaders and a skit on Dandi March Movement to replicate the life and deeds of Gandhiji with enthusiastic fervor.

Book Week

The Book Week was a school wide celebration. Students learnt about the importance of reading. A plethora of activities were conducted; like reading passports, book covers, mobiles, book marks, illustrations, character parade, newspaper making, extempore sessions, poetry recitation and setting up a reading corner in every classroom.

Dussehra Celebrations

‘The Festival of Faith and Endurance’ brightened the OPG family with hopes of happy times and dreams for a year full of smiles.

Diwali Celebrations

‘The Festival of Lights’ illuminated each and every member of the OPG family with the ray of joy and prosperity. The event was marked with dramatization of the epic ‘Ramayana’ interlaced with songs and dances.

Diwali Carnival

The school organized the Diwali Carnival during the Joy of Giving Week. It was a fun filled fiesta with loads of games and stalls to enjoy and feel the spirit of Diwali.


The Joy of Giving Week was a humble way to make the lives of the less fortunate and less privileged happy by doing unconditional charity.

Guru Parv

OPGians relived the life of an ascetic with goodness and purity amidst the world’s temptations through an enriching ‘shabad’ and a talk on the life and deeds of the saint, Guru Nanak.

Halloween

In a wish to propagate the secular and global ideology, the school celebrated Halloween in its complete spooky spirit. On this day, the students participated in a character parade and made lovely Halloween masks with loads of fun.

Grand Baby Show

‘A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on.’
The show offered a platform to the children to untap their budding talents to gain recognition and lead ahead. A variety of exciting activities and events were organized to make the day a pleasant and unforgettable one.

Children’s Day

The day was graced by the energetic and soulful performances put forth by all the faculty members. Children were given sweets and candies to celebrate the day.

Sports Day

‘Sport gives us peak experiences and transcends all conflicts as we finally become our own potential…’
The Sports Day exemplified every earnest endeavour of our children in the field of games and athletics. The torch bearers initiated the event and the day was marked with the notable participation of all the students .The children won medals and certificates for their exemplary show.

Christmas

The Nativity play rejuvenated the faith in the divine power. Deeply inspired by the Holy spirit, children sang melodious carols. Santa Claus distributed goody-bags as a token of love in all classes.

Lohri

The celebration was commenced with a powerful ‘shabad’. Children presented a skit and danced joyously on the occasion. Peanuts and pop-corns were distributed around the pious bon-fire.

Basant Panchami

The auspicious occasion was marked in hues of yellow wherein children presented an ode to Goddess Saraswati through dances and hymns. Children relished and savoured the treats of yellow delight in the meal-time.

OPGians celebrated the 61st anniversary of the Republic Day with unabated enthusiasm and energy which soared high in action songs, patriotic songs and also during the flag hoisting ceremony.

Field Trips

‘A happy childhood experience precedes future learning’.
OPGians are facilitated and exposed to regular educational excursions and field trips to widen their horizon of learning. The visit to the National Museum, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Nehru Planetarium, Doll Museum, Air Force Museum, NGOs, Museum of Natural History, Jantar Mantar, Indian Institute of Mountaineering and many more outdoor trips to industries, public places and other places of national and international importance provided the children with firsthand knowledge and helped them to gain an insight to the world beyond the classroom.

Holi – The Festival of Colors

It was time to reach out with the colors of joy, happiness, friendship and love. OPGians cherished the event with thoughtful talks, melodious songs and energetic dance performances. The entire OPG family rejoiced the marvels of colors, fun and frolic.
